New concepts for electric mobility in city logistics in high demand
That climate change is of great significance for companies in logistics was once again reflected in the high level of participation of the 6th SMART CITY LOGISTIK Congress. During the event on 22nd and 23rd May at Schloss Heidecksburg in Rudolstadt, more than 130 guests discussed the opportunities that electric mobility offers for the logistics sector. Best practice examples, latest results of research projects and new developments of vehicles took centre stage.
Amongst others, the presentations of the research project SMART DISTRIBUTION LOGISTIK (SDL) made it clear that in order to integrate electric mobility successfully in logistics processes, digital solutions are necessary. One of the latest results of the research work of companies and universities from Thuringia and Saxonia is a software tool for automatic tour planning. It uses intelligent algorithms to create optimal tours from given order data. Other topics were innovative approaches for multi-use which support capacity utilisation and thus, economic use of the e-vehicles, as well as hub concepts and new vehicles for specific purposes in logistics. A detailed review of the congress can be found here (only german).
